Conference report
The seventh TA Teachers Conference, Lessons for Teaching Thinking, took place in the virtual format in August-September, 2024. This year we further developed a new format for the conference first introduced in 2022.
All conference presenters were asked to prepare their contributions as a set of materials to be published on an online board. These boards were open to participants on 26th of August. Colleagues had 10 days to study the materials, do assignments offered by the presenters and pose questions. In addition to the discussions taking place on the boards, the Organising Committee prepared four metaboards dealing with key conference themes:
- How do we develop thinking in a mathematics lesson?
- How do we develop thinking in a language lesson?
- How do we help a teacher to change?
- How do we help a student master their thinking skills?
Following the exchange on individual and thematic boards, four online sessions were organised on 6 and 7 September. The programme included the most interesting aspects of the discussions on the boards. The conference programme included 17 individual and 4 thematic online boards prepared by 45 colleagues from 12 countries. Overall it attracted over 80 participants. While the boards offered materials in various languages, Russian was the main conference language. It is possible to purchase access to all individual and thematic boards, as well as the recordings of the online sessions. We plan the next conference for August - September 2026. You can already pre-register your interest.
